Mass Execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war

in Olenivka

From February 24 to May 16, 2022, Ukrainian servicemen, being surrounded for 82 days in Mariupol, valiantly resisted the superior army of the Russian Federation until they received an order from the high military command to lay down their arms. The surrender from the territory of the Azovstal plant lasted for five days; most of the servicemen were sent to a colony located near the front line in the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region, in the settlement of Olenivka.

The wounded, who miraculously survived, began to be transported to medical facilities in temporarily occupied Donetsk only in the morning. The transportation was also inadequate; the wounded were stacked on top of each other and transported over bumpy roads, causing a few more to die and others to receive new injuries. As a result of the mass execution in Olenivka, about 50 prisoners of war were killed and more than 130 were injured., The chronology of events indicates that this was a premeditated murder of specific individuals whom Russia singled out on a list., Before this tragedy, on July 27, according to specific lists, the Russians transferred 193 prisoners of war to the industrial zone on the territory of the colony in Olenivka., The next night, representatives of the armed forces of the Russian Federation treacherously and brutally blew up the barrack where the prisoners were sleeping. 53 The colony's guards watched as the wounded bled out and screamed in pain, and only after a few hours did they allow Ukrainian medics, who were also prisoners at the time, to provide medical assistance. 62 There were no supplies to provide medical help, and only in the morning were the severely wounded taken to hospitals, while those with moderate and minor injuries were left in the colony. During this waiting time, many soldiers died due to the lack of timely medical assistance. On October 11, 2022, most of the bodies of the deceased were returned to Ukraine. 75 The colony's guards watched as the wounded bled out and screamed in pain, and only after a few hours did they allow Ukrainian medics, who were also prisoners at the time, to provide medical assistance. 130.
